July 26, 2002 -
Yes, it's been a while, but the new Invertebrate Classifieds are finally ready! The new boards will retain the ability for people who do not sell to post for free, and the sellers will have an automated system for subscribing. It took quite a bit of time to get this project accomplished, but it should be worth it. The next update shall take place on the Discussion Forums soon after (with necessary profiles, a forum moderator, etc.), which will clear space up for the rest of the website. With the Classifieds and Discussion Forums under control, Petbugs.com will be able to grow in more aspects than just interactivity between the community. More information, improved features, and possibly a new look may follow. Like always though, I will not announce any more details until the time comes. We don't want to promise anything that we can't deliver. What I can announce though is that we have a new logo for the website (see it at the top of this page). The tarantula in the corner of it is from the genus Coremiocnemis (of course you could tell that from the small gif image), and was found during last month's trip to Malaysia with Mark Pennell and Dean Hewlett (trip coordinators), Samuel Stableford (returning guest from last year's expedition), and Steve McIntrye (another first-timer like myself). Speaking of the Malaysia expedition, I will (hopefully) be writing up an online journal with photos about the trip sometime soon. Malaysia is quite a remarkable place, I'd go again in a heartbeat! Well, that's all for this update. Jumpa lagi! (Malaysian for "see you later")

March 3, 2002 - OK... most people would stop believing me at this point, but I will try to keep this page updated more often from now on. I should have made it my New Year's Resolution.
If you haven't already heard the tragic news, one of our beloved tarantula dealers, Bryant Capiz, has died. He committed suicide in late January, leaving behind his girlfriend of seven years, Kat. She wants to continue her and Bryant's spider business Arachnocentric, so please support her if possible. The website is: http://www.arachnocentric.com
A Memorial Page for Bryant has been created at: http://www.petbugs.com/bryant, and we encourage anyone who knew him to send us your own memory/tribute. Thank you.
On a lighter note, the Discussion Forums and the Classifieds scripts have been updated. We are planning on a big improvement for Petbugs.com, which is confidential at the moment. Hopefully, it can be revamped by September of this year. I must admit though, that with all the schoolwork I've been getting this year (senior in high school), as well as the other time-consuming endeavors of mine, this is definitely wishful thinking. That is why I will keep this goal secret until I can get a secure foothold on things. Luckily, the webmaster (my Dad Michael) is also here running the site, and he's willing to work on the new Petbugs.com project. Wish us luck.
Finally, there are two exciting tarantula expeditions this year, and both of them are in June. One is a trip with world-renown tarantula expert Rick C. West to Peruvian Amazon, and the other is a trip to Peninsular Malaysia organized by BTS webmaster Mark Pennell and advanced hobbyist Dean Hewlett. Both trips should be very good, check out their links. I believe there are still spaces available for the Amazon tour, and there is one spot left for the Malaysia expedition, as of today. If you go on the Malaysia expedition this year, we'll get to meet each other, as I am going to be on the trip. So there's an added bonus... haha.
Finally, if you have any suggestions for Petbugs.com, please let us know at: feedback@petbugs.com because like I said before, we will hopefully be making some changes in the near future. Thanks, and stay tuned.

August 30, 2001 - A transcript is now available for the recent chat session with the man from Malaysia, Mark Pennell. Check it out at: http://www.petbugs.com/chatroom/8-18-01_chat.html

Well, on Saturday, August 18, 2001, you can find out what happened on that trip! Chat with tarantula enthusiast and trip organizer Mark Pennell live from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time and ask him all the questions you like about the exciting search for SE Asian tarantulas, including the impressive Malaysian Earth Tiger Tarantula (Cyriopagopus thorelli)... for more details, go to:

April 12, 2001 - The Herp Classifieds are here! We figured since many invertebrate dealers and hobbyists also keep and sell reptiles and amphibians, why not give them a place to post their herps also? This "vertebrate" venture is new, so wish us luck. Here's the Classifieds page: http://www.pet-forums.com/petbugs/classifieds.html

March 16, 2001 - I have to apologize to the "fans" for the large gap between updates. We still have plenty of plans in our heads for the future. For now though, here's the address to the new Megarian Banded Centipede caresheet:

December 29, 2000 - This is the last project of the year 2000. We have split up the Discussion Forum into: Arachnid, Insect, and Myriopod. Now people can have one profile for all forums on Petbugs.com! Check it out at:

December 15, 2000 - Check out the new Classifieds at: http://www.pet-forums.com/petbugs/classifieds.html
The new Classifieds is being hosted by Pet-Forums.com, one of our next projects. Anyway, back to the Classifieds, we've split it up into two boards so that it will load faster and it will be better organized. Enjoy our efforts!

November 17, 2000 - This page has been neglected for some time now, but don't be fooled. There are some new things around here. For example, we have made the Classifieds much better, and we have created the Petbugs.com Cafe for hobbyists to go and hang out. The webmaster put a lot of time into those new pages, take a look. So far, we've been getting great responses from people! Also, fresh out of the oven, we now have a Red Widow Caresheet. Plenty of ideas for the future in our heads, so stay tuned!

September 7, 2000 - The new caresheets are here! Many interesting pages on exotic species. You won't find anything about some of these rare arthropods on the rest of the Web! All of the new caresheets have photos also, so take a look. Here's a little inside info, there may be a second "batch" of caresheets coming later on this month, or next? I've said too much already, so visit:

September 4, 2000 - A three-part Insect Chat Series with pro insect keeper Orin McMonigle! He's the author of the book "The Complete Guide to Rearing Grant's Rhinoceros Beetle", and the co-author of "Allpet Roaches: Care and Identification Handbook for the Pet and Feeder Cockroaches". He will be appearing at the Petbugs.com Chat Room on September 17, October 1, and October 15. To find out more, go to:

August 8, 2000 - All current caresheets have been updated! I feel the caresheets have improved information, now the "Humidity" has changed from being either "Low", "Medium", or "High" to a percentage, due to popular demand. Also, there's a new category in all caresheets known as "Decor". This is preparation for the many NEW caresheets coming in September! You can check out all 39 current caresheets at:
Au revoir mon ami!

July 27, 2000 - For our one-year anniversary, Petbugs.com will reduce all advertising rates! These prices will become effective on August 1, 2000, since Petbugs.com opened in August of 1999. Also, we just sent out Issue #5 of the Petbugs.com Newsletter, we now have over 400 subscribers!  Lastly, look out for more information, we are working on the FAQ and many new caresheets! Thanks and enjoy the site!

June 25, 2000 - A new Bug Quiz has been added for your entertainment! Complete it and get an award. You can play at: http://www.petbugs.com/quiz

June 22, 2000 - Due to the increased activity on the Petbugs.com Classifieds, more people have started to post their opinions and such about dealers they like or dislike. Since that is not the point of a Classifieds section, Petbugs.com has created the Comment Board, where people CAN post their remarks, comments, opinions, or even debate! To add your viewpoint, recommendation, etc., go to the new board at: http://www.petbugs.com/forums/comments.cgi

March 17, 2000 - We've MERGED!!! The Petbugs.com Classifieds is now the "new" Bulletin Board. For those of you who are not familiar with the Bulletin Board, it is a popular tarantula classifieds site. You can still find it at: http://www.petbugs.com/forums/classifieds.cgi Cya'!
