July 26, 2002 - Yes, it's been a while, but the new Invertebrate Classifieds are finally ready! The new boards will retain the ability for people who do not sell to post for free, and the sellers will have an automated system for subscribing. It took quite a bit of time to get this project accomplished, but it should be worth it. The next update shall take place on the Discussion Forums soon after (with necessary profiles, a forum moderator, etc.), which will clear space up for the rest of the website. With the Classifieds and Discussion Forums under control, Petbugs.com will be able to grow in more aspects than just interactivity between the community. More information, improved features, and possibly a new look may follow. Like always though, I will not announce any more details until the time comes. We don't want to promise anything that we can't deliver. What I can announce though is that we have a new logo for the website (see it at the top of this page). The tarantula in the corner of it is from the genus Coremiocnemis (of course you could tell that from the small gif image), and was found during last month's trip to Malaysia with Mark Pennell and Dean Hewlett (trip coordinators), Samuel Stableford (returning guest from last year's expedition), and Steve McIntrye (another first-timer like myself). Speaking of the Malaysia expedition, I will (hopefully) be writing up an online journal with photos about the trip sometime soon. Malaysia is quite a remarkable place, I'd go again in a heartbeat! March 3, 2002 - OK... most people would stop believing me at this point, but I will try to keep this page updated more often from now on. I should have made it my New Year's Resolution.
If you haven't already heard the tragic news, one of our beloved tarantula dealers, Bryant Capiz, has died. He committed suicide in late January, leaving behind his girlfriend of seven years, Kat. She wants to continue her and Bryant's spider business Arachnocentric, so please support her if possible. The website is: http://www.arachnocentric.com
A Memorial Page for Bryant has been created at: http://www.petbugs.com/bryant, and we encourage anyone who knew him to send us your own memory/tribute. Thank you.
On a lighter note, the Discussion Forums and the Classifieds scripts have been updated. We are planning on a big improvement for Petbugs.com, which is confidential at the moment. Hopefully, it can be revamped by September of this year. I must admit though, that with all the schoolwork I've been getting this year (senior in high school), as well as the other time-consuming endeavors of mine, this is definitely wishful thinking. That is why I will keep this goal secret until I can get a secure foothold on things. Luckily, the webmaster (my Dad Michael) is also here running the site, and he's willing to work on the new Petbugs.com project. Wish us luck.
Finally, there are two exciting tarantula expeditions this year, and both of them are in June. One is a trip with world-renown tarantula expert Rick C. West to Peruvian Amazon, and the other is a trip to Peninsular Malaysia organized by BTS webmaster Mark Pennell and advanced hobbyist Dean Hewlett. Both trips should be very good, check out their links. I believe there are still spaces available for the Amazon tour, and there is one spot left for the Malaysia expedition, as of today. If you go on the Malaysia expedition this year, we'll get to meet each other, as I am going to be on the trip. So there's an added bonus... haha.

November 17, 2000 - This page has been neglected for some time now, but don't be fooled. There are some new things around here. For example, we have made the Classifieds much better, and we have created the Petbugs.com Cafe for hobbyists to go and hang out. The webmaster put a lot of time into those new pages, take a look. So far, we've been getting great responses from people! Also, fresh out of the oven, we now have a Red Widow Caresheet. Plenty of ideas for the future in our heads, so stay tuned!
